Bulldogs knockout the Rough Riders
Stow vs Kent Roosevelt (at Revere) (W, 2-1)Last season the Bulldogs ended the 2010 campaign with a shootout loss at Kent. The loss did not sit well with the maroon and gold, and 365 days later, the Bulldogs exacted some revenge. A year ago, Nick Kutcher and Lucas Hunt could not convert their penalty kicks in the shootout against Kent as Stow lost 4-3. It was only fitting that these two offensive minded forces would put the Rough Riders to rest this year. Lucas Hunt opened up the scoring for Stow when he unloaded his best shot of the season from 20 yards out. Adam Householder delivered the ball to Hunt on Stow's first corner kick. Zach Patrick setup Nick Kutcher on the next goal of the game. His pass enabled Kutcher to slip past the last line of defense and Kutcher did what he does best, score big goals when the game is on the line. After Stow jumped out to a 2-0 lead the Rough Riders took control of the game as the first half was coming to a close. Kent scored their only goal of the night with less than two minutes left in the half. Both teams failed to connect on golden opportunities in the second half of play and the 2-1 halftime score was also the final. Down the stretch Adam Householder, Grant DuHamel, Kyle Foens, and KC Kolke played strong in the back while Tyler Simpkins made a key save near the end of the game to preserve the victory. The Bulldogs will travel to Aurora Thursday night to face the #4 seed in the Sectional Final.
