Despite a strong effort from Halle Miller at 3rd singles, Hudson beat Stow 4-1 in an NOC crossover match at Stow on Wednesday. Miller displayed nice variety by mixing crosscourt drives with well-angled putaways throughout the match. After Stow got blanked at 1st and 2nd singles, it was up to Stow's doubles pairs. Sarah Powell and Steph Stirm had a great opportunity in the 1st set leading 5-4 with Powell serving. Unfortunately, a few untimely errors cost the duo the game and Hudson eventually prevailed 7-5, 6-3. Rachel Crookston and Kristen Pung stayed close through both sets, but their deficit in experience did them in with a 6-4, 6-3 loss.

Stow is idle until Wednesday, September 7th when they travel to Solon Community Park for another NOC crossover match against Solon.

The Stow girls tennis team bounced back from losses to Cuyahoga Falls and Aurora last week with an efficient 5-0 win over Lakewood Monday. Playing in front of a large Bulldog crowd, Stow won all five varsity matches in straight sets. Kristen Cannon and Halle Miller were victorious at 1st and 2nd singles respectively while sophomore Rachel Crookston made her varsity singles debut and came out with a 6-1, 6-0 win. Two new combinations at doubles also proved successful for Stow with Sara Starc and Steph Stirm pairing at 1st doubles and Sarah Powell and Kristen Pung teaming up at 2nd doubles.

Stow's next match is at home against Hudson, one of the area's better teams. Come out and cheer the Bulldogs on!
